Lesson Policies for Fort Collins

These apply for lessons in Fort Collins and online. Check with Guitars, Etc. policies for lessons in Longmont.

Attendance (These apply to all lessons)

  • If you are going to be late, please call or text me at (970) 682-4842. If you are more than 10 minutes late without notice, I may leave or start the next lesson.
  • Lessons are available in-store at Boomer Music or online via Google Duo.
  • Lessons are normally one-on-one. If you would like to book lessons for a group, please email me.
  • Lessons are offered in multiples of 30 minutes. I do not currently offer 45 minute lessons.
  • Weekly lessons are the same day and time each week. There are a few weeks off each year. See the calendar for the current schedule.
  • If you are unable to attend a weekly lesson for any reason, please let me know as soon as possible. I can shoot a video for you to practice with or possibly reschedule for another time.
  • Single lessons are booked for a specific day and time. Please be sure you will be available for the lesson before booking.
  • Please do not skip lessons because you haven’t practiced. We can always review previous lessons and it’s a great opportunity to work on practice strategies.
  • Missed lessons can not be rescheduled.

In-Store Lessons

  • Please arrive on time.
  • My lesson studio is on the second floor. You can take the stairs at the front corner entrance (marked FTC Coffeehouse) or there is an entrance with an elevator on the north side of the building.
  • If you arrive after 5:30 enter through Boomer music. You can take the stairs or elevator from there. Room 9 will be available for you to wait in.
  • Fort Collins Coffeehouse is on the same floor. Please be respectful of their business.
  • Please do not park in the trophy store’s customer only parking. They will tow your vehicle.

Online Lessons

  • For online lessons you have a choice of either a session via video chat or prerecorded videos.
  • Prerecorded videos are shot during your normal lesson time so their total length is less than the schedule. I will typically shoot 1 video per concept to practice.
  • There are usually 6-12 videos per half-hour lesson spot. This can vary a lot, depending on the complexity of each topic.
  • I typically send videos by 8pm on the day of your lesson. Please text or email me if you have not received them by the next day.
  • For video chat lessons, I will call you at our scheduled time. If you do not receive this call within 2 minutes of the start time, feel free to call me instead.
  • If you miss my call, feel free to call me back anytime during the scheduled lesson time. If you miss the lesson time completely, email or text instead.
  • If the online service we normally use is down, we will try another service or reschedule.
  • Lessons work best if your device is in landscape (on its side).
  • Please make sure you are available at the lesson time and your device is charged. I cannot reschedule lessons due to dead batteries.

Weather-Related Cancellations

  • If you feel travel conditions are unsafe, please call or text me at (970) 682-4842. We can have a lesson online or we may be able to reschedule your lesson.
  • If Boomer Music is closed, in-store lessons will be online or I will send you videos to practice with. I will normally move lessons online if Fort Collins is on accident alert.
  • I’ll let you know if lessons are moved online by 11:00am via text or email. I may also make the change later in the day if the weather changes suddenly.
  • If you have any questions, please call or text me at (970) 682-4842.

Illness and Injury Related Cancellations

  • Pain while playing an instrument is bad. If you are in pain, stop playing immediately and see a doctor as soon as possible.
  • If you need to cancel a lesson due to illness or injury, please contact me as soon as you can so we can switch to video chat, reschedule, or plan what you should practice.
  • Please do not risk your and your fellow students’ health by coming to your lesson while you are ill. Call or text me at (970) 682-4842 and we’ll have a lesson over video chat or try to reschedule for when you’re well.
  • If I believe you are contagious or are too sick to play, I will send you home immediately.
  • If I am sick, I will switch all lessons online or cancel them. Lessons I cancel will be rescheduled as soon as possible. If we can’t find a time that works to reschedule a lesson I canceled, I’ll credit your account $30 per half-hour for weekly lessons or refund the full amount for single lessons.
  • If you have any questions, please call or text me at (970) 682-4842.

Weekly Lessons

  • Tuition for weekly lessons is $110 per month for half-hour or $220 per month for hour. Single lessons are $65 per hour.
  • There are a total of 15 weeks of lessons in each 4 month term (January through April, May through August, and September through December). Weekly lessons work out to $58.67 per hour (or $29.34 per half-hour), a savings of about 10% versus single lessons.
  • You can stop weekly lessons at the end of any month and there is no cancellation fee. If possible, please let me know at least two weeks before dropping lessons.

  • Payment for single lessons is due at the time the lesson is scheduled. Tuition for weekly lessons is due by the 1st lesson of each month. A $15 late fee will be added to unpaid invoices on the 10th.
  • You may pay in person by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. Online payments may be made by eCheck, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, PayPal, or Zelle.
  • There are no refunds for lessons except in the case of my unscheduled absence. If I am unable to teach or reschedule a lesson I will refund the full amount of the single lesson payment or $30.00 per missed half-hour for monthly lessons.
